North vs South Sprint Car Shootout headlines Park Jefferson Speedway

Saturday night the Park Jefferson Speedway roars back into action as the 6th annual North vs. South Sprint Car Shootout takes center stage at the Park Jefferson Speedway. With rain being prevalent across the area, Park Jefferson was able to sneak in the opening night this past Saturday and 131 cars descended onto the South Dakota oval for an exciting night of racing that was delayed close to 2 hours mid program for a shower. However, racers and officials all worked together to put on a great night of racing at the track and it should be more of the same this Saturday night.

The southern contingent of sprint racers will see a new driver take over the top spot for the Nebraska 360’s as driver Matt Juhl currently sits atop the standings. With Juhl slated to compete at the Knoxville Raceway, Jack Dover and Jason Martin will both look to take over the top spot and gun for top billing of the Nebraska 360’s. The northern invaders from the MSTS of South Dakota will see a number of new drivers rise in the standings but the likely top runners Greg Bakker, Lee Grosz and Jody Rosenboom all look to keep the title in the north. The 2018 edition saw Nebraska contingent dominate the event with Jack Dover and Cody Ledger thrilling the crowd with a series of slide jobs.

Also on tap will be the full program of IMCA racing. An exciting night of racing this past Saturday saw a number of invaders in the top spots, but in the Artworks Graphics IMCA Modifieds it was the old favorites Jason Schneiders and Ricky Stephan taking the top spots. Look for the point racing battles to continue to shape up as many drivers are working out their new cars and will look to see what this week holds with the ever changing weather patterns.

Gates open at 4:30 for the pit gate, 5:00 for the front gate. Hot laps begin at 6:15 and heat races start at 7:00 or the conclusion of hot laps. Adult tickets for the sprint car special are $18, seniors 65+ are $15 and children 6-16 are $5 with under 6 being free. Pit passes are $30. The clubhouse is open and passes can be added to any ticket for $12 at the souvenir booth. Tickets available online at https://market.myracepass.com/store/tickets/?i=1172016&store=10866.

$89 hotel rooms are available at the Hampton Inn in North Sioux City. Make reservations by calling 605-232-9739 and ask for the Park Jefferson rate.
