Z98 Night sees 90 cars on IMCA Night

third on this night behind Abelson and Shane DeMey. A mid race caution caught up many contender’s with Todd Boulware, Jim Thies, Jason Schneiders and more getting some sheet metal damage.
Casey Jones has long been one of the strongest proponents of the Stock Car class, and he finally took home the checker flags as he picked up an exciting victory at the Park Jefferson Speedway. Jones, who along with brother and father in the first 2 rows, jumped out to an early lead which he would not relinquish. Running a low line in turns 1&2 and a smooth mid line in 3& 4, Jones outdrove the competition to pick up his first checkers at Park Jefferson. Bo Lundquist challenged multiple times, but it was not to be. Hard charger Ryan Harris rocketed to third.
Colin Smith returned the black 05 sprint car to victory lane in a caution filled affair that saw 2 devastating red flags. It was JD Hommes who continues to impress taking the lead in a battle with returning Jesse Lindberg, but Smith and Elliot Amdahl were in the hunt and worked their way up to the top spots after 2 high flying tin busters as cars got together in the back stretch and front stretch. Smith closed out the win with Amdahl second and Lindberg third.

Rusty Montague ran away and hid from the competition in the IMCA Sport Modified. Montague was able to get the jump after drivers brought out a yellow attempting to enter turn 1 five wide. The white #1 machine flew to the front after Justin Klynsma turned in the performance of the year leading the first third of the race. Once Montague on the lead, it was all over but the spoils. Karl Brewer came in third.
The Z98 Hobby Stocks saw Andy Hoffman take checkers again after running 3 wide for multiple laps with Kent Hustad and Lenny Tucker. Tucker, who had his bright colored machine on a rail from the start, had the lead but settled for third while Hustad continues his impressive run of podium finishes.
In the Sport Compacts it was Andy Harris taking the win over Danny VanderVeen and Jake Newsome. Harris continues to thrive in the division now that the Thompson boys have moved on.
In the Mad Photography Australian pursuit for sport compacts, it was also Harris taking the exciting victory and the cash which track photographer Krissy Bearce raises through the sale of her calendars. Pick them up when you see her at the track or at the Park Jefferson Souvenir stand.
One of the highlights of the schedule hits Monday July 23rd as the IMCA Dirt Knight Modified Tour invades the Siouxland for the first time ever. Come out to see if Sioux Cities best can defend the Siouxland from drivers like Ricky Thornton, Hunter Marriott and more. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. Adult tickets are $18, Seniors 70+ are $10, kid 6-16 are $5 and under 6 are free. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts will be on the card with all classes having draw/redraw events and running for state, regional and national points.
