Park Jefferson Speedway crowns Track Champions on MyRacePass Night
For the first time since 2011, Park Jefferson Speedway has crowned five IMCA Track Champions this past Saturday Night. It was a wonderful night of racing with a great crowd on hand to see the IMCA Track points season conclude. Joining the five racing divisions was the always exciting Nebraska Mod Lites.
In SignMasters Modified division, Bob Moore swept to victory lane after starting in row six. Moore was joined on the podium by Ricky Stephan, who wrapped up the SignMasters Modified championship to give him his third track championship on the season. Jim Thies, Jim Cole and Jim Mathieson rounded out the top 5.
The J&J Fitting Stock Cars once again put on a great finish as it was Chris Mills and Travis Barker dueling to close out the season. The top 2 point finishers were joined on the podium by 2015 track champion Paul Wenzlaff. Mills capped off a tremendous season at Park Jefferson with the largest number of wins by any one driver. Mills will look to continue his dominance at the September 17th and 18th Iron Cup.
The Schaeffer Oil Sport Modifieds were once again dominated by Todd Boulware. Boulware was just too much for the competition starting in his customary 12th starting spot. Boulware managed to come from 12th to win once again and cap the point championship. Jeff Brunssen capped a fantastic run for the runner up spot and Karl Brewer rounded out the podium. The “Jefferson Jet” Todd Boulware was the point champion for 2016.
USRA regular Dustin Gulbrandson once again was able to take the top spot in the always competitive Fox 620 Hobby Stock division. Gulbrandson was able to take the win over John Cain, whose recent appearances at the track have been rewarded with multiple top 5 finishes. The ever consistent Dave Riley came home third of 2016 Track Champion Rusty Montague. Montague, who is the all-time feature winner at Park Jefferson in the Hobby Stock division, was ever consistent throughout the year to take home the track title.
Only two drivers made every race this year in the Pedersen Machine Sport Compacts, and Andrew Harris did everything he could to take home the championship by winning the final night of the season. Unfortunately, Luke Jacksons lead was just too much as he was able to capture the track championship in what proved to be the tightest point race. Harris won over Tyler Thompson and Jake Newsome. Jackson wins the track championship for the year.
In Nebraska Modified Lite action, David Rafferty took home the top spot. Rafferty outdueled Doug Pollock and Richard Enevoldsen for podium honors in a very exciting race. The Mod Lites are always exciting on the big track at Park Jefferson and are currently scheduled to return as part of Night 1 of the September 17&18 Iron Cup at Park Jefferson Speedway.
Park Jefferson returns to action this Saturday with the return of the USMTS series. Joining them will be night #2 of the Nebraska 360 Sprint Cars vs. Midwest Sprint Touring Series at Park Jefferson. A non sanctioned Sport Modified and Sport Compact show will also be part of the night of action. Gates will open at 2pm with hot laps scheduled for 7:00 and racing at 7:30.
